HOW TO CREATE IN-APP SCAVENGER HUNTS
The in-app scavenger hunt feature allows users to participate in an activity of exploration.
Use Cases:
- Explore the Campground / Resort
- Sales Stay Activity
- Get to know your neighbor - Great for the beginning of the season
Eat / Shop / Play :
- Boutique / Restaurant Crawl
- Meet the Membership
- Small Business Saturday Selfies
- Community Traveling Art or Temporary Exhibits throughout the Community
How to Build A Scavenger Hunt:
Click "Manage Hunts" - Left side of the Admin Console
Hunts that have been created are displayed in the center
Click "Add Item" to create a new hunt
Next Steps:
Click: "General Information" bar
Title: Enter Name of Scavenger Hunt
Description : Enter the pertinent information for the Scavenger Hunt. What is the intent, what is the reward, time parameters, etc.
*This will display on the homescreen of the Scavenger Hunt prior to starting the clues.
Start Hunt Text: Customize the "Start Hunt" button text
Check the appropriate boxes:
- Requires Log-In - Optional to prompt users to "log-in" to the app to capture names and emails of entrants.
- Add Hunt Disclaimer - Disclaimer text will appear prior to the Hunt starting.
Examples: Any photos submitted may be used in our Social Media
- Display Steps One at a Time
Note: If checked, users cannot see the following clues until they are answered one at a time. If "unchecked" the clues will appear in a list to be answered in any order.
- Available in Hunt Menu - If checked, the Scavenger Hunts created can appear in a category within the app that contains multiple scavenger hunts.
*Example: Family, Teenager, and Child Scavenger Hunt Options
Hunt Type:
Choose General to create a Scavenger Hunt
(Option: Choose Golf Scorecard - See "Golf Scorecard" within the Help section)
How to Add A Cover Image:
Click Image Bar:
Click "Select New Image
Choose a picture from your computer
Click "Use Image"
Find Stock Image
Search for "royalty-free" stock images to use
Click on image
Click "OK"
Click "Use Image"
Click The "Steps" Bar to create each clue:
Title: Clue Name
Step: Enter the text of the clue
Hint (Optional): If a "Hint" is added, a "Hint" button will appear at the bottom of the clue
Step Type:
- Photo - User can submit the photos through the app. When they click "Take Photo", the User's camera will open and a photo can be submitted. Users are also prompted to share the photo on social media.
- Clue / Answer - Add a question and the user types in an answer (Ability to include a Clue as well)
- QR Scan - Associate a QR code to any Clue. Users can scan the QR codes that are at the Clue locations.
- Multiple Choice -Users can choose from multiple options.
Step Header Image : Each clue can have it's own image that will appear with each clue.
Choose: "Select New Image" or "Find Stock Image"
Step Is Required
Check if specific questions are required. Leave unchecked if not required.
Location / Map Button
No Location: No location is necessary
GPS Location: Specific address is associated with a clue
App Created Map: Annotated map location will appear
Click: Add Step
After Making Updates to a clue - Click Update Step
Notes: Make sure that you click : "Add Step" after creating each clue.
Once you are finished adding your clues (or are finished for the time being) then click Submit.
Scroll Up to Enter the next clue.
Proceed entering the clues until complete.
Make the necessary edits.
Completion Pop Up Title: Title of the text that appears when all of the required fields are completed.
