Map Annotation Procedure

Objective

This SOP outlines the steps to annotate a map within the app and enabling it to be searchable



Key Steps

 

1. Accessing Manage Maps 0:00

  • Click on the Manage Maps icon to begin.

  • Remember, 'manage' refers to your file cabinet where maps are stored.

 

2. Creating a New Map 0:39

  • Click on Create Map.

  • Enter a title for your map (this can be edited later).

  • Click Submit.

 

3. Uploading a Map Image 0:48

  • Click the pencil icon to upload your map image from your computer.

  • Select the image and click Open.

 

4. Adjusting Map Overlay 1:04

  • Use the search overlay scroll bar to adjust the darkness of the scrim as needed.

 

5. Downloading QR Code 1:38

  • Each map has a unique QR code that can be downloaded.

 

6. Adding Pins to the Map 1:49

  • Click the pencil icon and then the pin drop icon.

  • Choose a color for your pin and click on the map to place it.

 

7. Adding Text Annotations 3:00

  • Click on the area where you want to add text.

  • Double-click to enter your text.

 

8. Drawing Shapes 3:32

  • Click and drag to create filled shapes on the map.

  • Modify or delete shapes as needed.

 

9. Zooming and Panning the Map 4:24

  • Use the zoom feature to see details clearly.

  • Pan the map to navigate around.

 

10. Annotating Locations 5:08

  • Enter a title for the location (e.g., 'pavilion').

  • Specify if it is a site cabin or lodging.

  • Add common search terms for easier access.

 

11. Adding Multiple Locations 6:35

  • After adding a location, click Clear Canvas to start a new annotation.

  • Repeat the process for additional sites.

 

12. Drawing Routes 7:41

  • Use the line tool to draw routes between sites.

 

13. Saving Annotations 9:13

  • All annotations are saved automatically.

 

14. Adding the Map to the App 9:25

  • Click Add Item to include the map in the app.

  • Select the map type and give it a title.

 

15. Finalizing the Map 10:01

  • Click Submit to finalize the map.

  • Users will see the map and a search bar for easy navigation.

Cautionary Notes

  • Click the "Clear Canvas" button in between items to avoid having multiple pins for items

Tips for Efficiency

  • Use common search terms to make it easier for users to find locations.

  • Regularly review and update maps to ensure accuracy.
